Program Description |
The Liberty Resources’ Family Foster Care program became aware of a need in
Oswego
County for therapeutic level foster homes. Youth needing the higher level of care were often placed outside the county which made maintaining ties with the birth family difficult. In 2001, the Therapeutic Foster Boarding Home Program began. The program certifies six to eight therapeutic families who serve a maximum of approximately eighteen youth. Two Therapists, three Youth Specialists and a Case Manager provide therapy, case management, independent living skill development and recreational services are provided to the youth on a weekly basis. Success is measured by the return of the youth to the birth family, an adoption, or a lower level of care. Referrals are accepted from DSS. The Therapeutic Foster Boarding Home Program is always recruiting for foster homes committed to this challenging work. Therapeutic families are considered an integral part of the treatment team.
Opportunities are available for graduate and undergraduate level internships.
