Non-Profit Behavioral Health Providers Health Information Technology Investment Program
Liberty Resources, one of Central New York’s largest and most-trusted human service agencies, has been awarded a NYS grant of $50,000 for behavioral health providers to invest in information technology. This grant was created to support the upgrade of infrastructure costs associated with electronic health records.
Liberty Resources will advance its investment in software and hardware to support integrated electronic health records and clinical programming with hospitals and other medical professionals as well as Clinical decision support tools. Such software improves care delivery by providing therapists and psychiatrists with background, knowledge, and patient-specific information for critical mental health, and substance abuse disorder services.
Measuring treatment outcomes for improved patient health requires a significant investment in computer networks. A critical component of measuring data for the improvement in patient healthcare is the creation of a data warehouse. Liberty Resources will use this grant to further invest in hardware and software that will support the integration, collection, storage, and analysis of client and data measurements.
In addition to core electronic health documentation, Liberty Resources will invest in hardware and software to offer remote sessions for Telehealth and Telepsychiatry. The additional technology infrastructure will provide access to these services across Liberty Resources clinic locations and allow future treatment linkages in Texas and Florida under planned expansion.
“Liberty Resources views Telehealth/Telepsychiatry as a key and critical element to improving access to lower cost, pro-active behavioral health care,” states Liberty Resources Medical Director Dr. David Kang. “The counties Liberty Resources serves comprise many rural communities with transportation challenges impacting access to behavioral health care. Telehealth/Telepsychiatry will help improve decisions regarding client care and provide greater access to care.”
This expansion into Telehealth/Telepsychiatry will allow Liberty Resources to pursue further expansions opportunities in behavior healthcare in Florida and Texas.
